Rakuten Mobile Becomes First Mobile Carrier in Japan to Offer Nothing’s Phone (3a)

Tokyo, April 8, 2025 – Rakuten Mobile, Inc. today announced it will become the first mobile carrier in Japan to offer the Phone (3a), designed by U.K.-based Nothing, with pre-orders on the official Rakuten Mobile website starting at 12 p.m. (JST) on April 8.

The device will be available for purchase starting from 9 a.m. on April 15, priced from 54,890 yen (tax included)^*1-4 at Rakuten Mobile stores, and online via the official Rakuten Mobile website and the official Rakuten Mobile store on Rakuten’s online marketplace Rakuten Ichiba. The exclusive blue color will be available only from Rakuten Mobile^*5. In addition, the Nothing Ear (a) wireless earphones will also be available for purchase starting from 9 a.m. on April 15 on the official Rakuten Mobile store on Rakuten Ichiba for 14,800 yen (tax included)^*6.

Phone (3a) features an advanced camera system that delivers professional-quality images in any environment, including indoors, outdoors, at night and in backlit conditions. The new three cameras in the main camera system offer a wide zoom range from 0.6x to 30x, capturing light and shadow in exceptional detail. Equipped with the TrueLens Engine 3, it combines cutting-edge hardware with advanced computational algorithms, AI processing and multi-frame technology to deliver images with excellent tone, texture and depth.

The Phone (3a) is powered by the Snapdragon^® 7s Gen 3 5G Mobile Platform, delivering exceptional performance in games and multitasking with its high processing speed, graphics capabilities and AI processing power.

The device also supports the latest version of Nothing's proprietary operating system, Nothing OS 3, offering easy and intuitive operation with customizable features. In addition, Phone (3a) boasts a 6.77-inch Full HD+ flexible AMOLED display, a 5,000mAh battery with 50W fast charging support, splash proof (IPX4) and dust resistance (IP6X)^*7, fingerprint and facial recognition biometric authentication, Mobile Wallet (Osaifu-Keitai^®) and dual SIM support (nanoSIM and eSIM), making it a powerful 5G-compatible smartphone that balances cost and functionality^*8.
